The collection of art is property of the Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity. Since 1993, Hospital Arts has acquired over 900 works of art. Many of them having been especially commissioned from the artist, some of whom include Patrick Heron, Allen Jones, Albert Irvin and Sir Eduardo Paolozzi. The emphasis  for the selection of art has always focused on bright, colourful abstract work, which befits the modern architecture of the hospital.

In addition to the vast art collection, there are also places throughout the hospital in which selected applicants have the opportunity to show their artwork.  The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Gallery is located on the first floor atrium and is the place where professional artists can exhibit their talent.  For artists of any age, the ground floor atrium offers a Public Exhibition Space for those also wishing to display their work in the hospital.
